About

A Life in Music & Media

I’m a rock musicologist, content creator, and media entrepreneur who founded the award-winning radio station 99.1 FM Downtown Radio in Tucson. My vision was to air great music but avoid playing the same old songs that get played on corporate radio. I also wanted to blend classic rock with alternative rock, indie, power pop, psychedelia, and all types of subgenres within the general rock spectrum.

Under my guidance, the station became an instant success, generating an overwhelming amount of excitement in the community and earning Best New Radio Station from the Tucson Weekly.

In 2021, I founded the online publication Psychedelic Scene and made myself Editor-in- Chief.

Psychedelic Scene has over 27,000 Facebook followers and a monthly reach of as many as 17,000 visitors.

My writing has been published in the Phoenix New Times, Denver Westword, Dallas Observer, Arizona Daily Star, the Miami New Times, and Screen Rant, where I once served as Music Editor.

I regularly contribute music articles to my hometown alternative weekly the Phoenix New Times. In 2025, two of my pieces made the top three PNT music articles of the year.

Radio Station Founding

KTDT 99.1 FM · Tucson

I created and launched a 501(c)(3) community radio station focused on unique music programming. My vision was to create a station that’s completely non-commercial—one that doesn’t play any of the tired, old, overplayed rock songs or any of that top 40 crap. Listeners are exposed to great music that they have never heard of or didn’t know existed, and also to awesome local artists.

I trained, scheduled, and supervised a team of 50+ volunteers, secured startup funding through fundraisers, crowdfunding, and large donor events. I directed programming, marketing, events, and all aspects of running the station. The station’s website garnered over 120,000 monthly visitors, and it earned Best New Radio Station recognition from Tucson Weekly.

I also implemented talk shows regarding mental health with the intention of reducing the stigma associated with seeking help. Since its inception, the station devoted one hour per week to mental health issues, including The Depression Session and other programming.
